Chicago Style Pizza in Chicago!!
On Sunday night, November 7th, Jeremy and I along with our friends Sean and Jinny went to a Lecrae concert put on my Moody Bible Institute in down town Chicago. Lecrae, for anyone who does not know, is a Christian rap artist and if you can understand his lyrics, they are absolutely incredible. We know pretty much every song he sings by heart so it was a blast for us. We know Lacrae’s road manager, Steadman Nall. His brother was a groomsman in our wedding that Jeremy played baseball with for the Mets. One of the songs was about marriage and they had married couples come up on stage and dance. Through our connection with Steadman we were chosen, and it was so much fun. About 40 students from New Tribes attended the concert and when they saw us on stage they could not believe it. A teacher spoke in our daily chapel service this morning and the first thing he said when he began speaking was the He voted Jeremy and I as the best dancers. (Well maybe Jeremy!! HeHe) Before the concert, we ate Chicago style pizza in a little place downtown and it was delicious. There is nothing like it on earth! Yum!
Anyway we have started in Acts and 1 Corinthians and both classes are incredible. This is the first time we have taken a New Testament class were we are going straight through the books and breaking them down verse by verse. Acts is so awesome because Christ’s disciples are being obedient to preach the gospel in spite of great opposition. My favorite verse so far because it just blows my mind is: Acts 5:41 Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the Name. Peter and some of the apostles had just received a beating for telling people about Jesus and they rejoiced. It is so hard to imagine suffering for the name of Christ because growing up in America this does not really happen. My prayer is that if this does ever happen that I would glorify God as the apostles did. It is cool to see the same guy who denied Jesus three times, stand up to the Jewish leaders and defend the name of Christ and even rejoice in suffering for Him. What an awesome picture of the grace of God. Love you guys and have a great week!
